THE GROUNDED FIGHTER

taught by Max Waszak

This is a class about body intelligence and it’s great for all experience levels. Whether newbies or vets, all participants will gain a fresh perspective on theatrical violence and grow as movers. We will demystify this discipline by exploring how our daily movements (sports, dance, walking down the street, etc.) relate to combat. We’ll take a look at historical martial principles and how they draw from our connection to the elements and how they hold true no matter what kind of weapon you wield.

Saturday, September 16 from 10am to 4pm

CRAFTING A ONE-ACT PLAY

taught by Daniel Burson and Michael Levine

Each session will include a review of fundamental concepts of playwrighting from Aristotle to the present, as well as practice in the craft of developing tension, creating dramatic action, and working with the unique form of the play. A great way to polish a script in advance of the December deadline for submissions to the Maine Playwrights Festival. Authors of all levels are welcome.
